The two companies announced the team-up in separate blogs posted to their respective websites, with CDPR sharing a substantive breakdown of the studios' relationship with each other, and Blizzard opting for a more straightforward explanation of what the collab actually means right now. While the upcoming title The Witcher 4 was not at the event, CDPR is teeing up Ciri’s adventure by revisiting The Witcher 3. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered was the big "one more thing" announcement closing out today's Gamescom Opening Night Live showcase, and while there's an extremely wide array of new features in this release , one stands out above all the others: better combat. The often limp, floaty fighting of the 2015 original has been a sticking point since launch, and it seems that's a key point of emphasis in this remaster. "Feel every swing, sign, and dodge like never before," the remaster's official website promises in the "improved combat" section. "With revamped animations, brutal new finishers, and an adaptive camera, the action feels more dynamic, fluid, and kinetic." All good stuff, even if it is a bit vague. The trailer is slightly more detailed, noting additions like "new Witcher signs FX" and "enhanced monster behaviors." Our new look at Final Fantasy 7 Revelation at Gamescom Opening Night Live was brief, but it did give us our first look at several of the finale's big Weapon fights. After months of speculation, Ruby Weapon, Emerald Weapon, and Ultima Weapon have all made their big debut, and these epic battles are looking spectacular so far. We caught a brief glimpse of Emerald Weapon during a cutscene in Rebirth, but it appears the creature will play a much bigger role in Revelation, in line with the structure of the original game. Notably, the trailer shows what appears to be a real-time submarine fight against Emerald Weapon, which is certainly an expansion on its original appearance. Out of the best games of 2026 , the macabre strategy game roguelike slash cat-breeding simulator Mewgenics is still at the top of my list. Archetype Entertainment and Wizards of the Coast have released a new trailer at Gamescom for their upcoming sci-fi RPG Exodus, confirming it'll release on April 7, 2027. While surprises are a major part of Opening Night Live , one game we knew we'd be seeing more of during the Geoff Keighley-led showcase was Exodus, a Mass Effect-like RPG which is the debut title by Archetype Entertainment – a studio comprised of talent from Naughty Dog , Halo Studios, EA , and crucially, BioWare . However, I'm more sold on the game now after getting a closer look at Salt, one of the companions who just so happens to also be an octopus. The Exodus Gamescom trailer showed Salt's combat capabilities, with the mech-piloting cephalopod serving as a sniper who can disorient enemies with ink, covering Jun as they traverse the battlefield. Plus, we got some backstory for the Octopus which got me a bit emotional. Alongside more Salt, the trailer introduced Emrys – which a press release describes as "a member of the Deva, an enigmatic Celestial species defined by many consciousnesses."
